AI agents and lightweight integrations can check for recent global satellite fire detections near a coordinate without signup, OAuth, or MCP configuration.

Returns a 24-hour active-fire aggregate, contributing satellite sources, rolling seven-day burned-area context, freshness, safety context, and attributed links. Raw and higher-volume access remains available through the authenticated API.

Fire data sources

Active-fire detections, current burned perimeters, and long-term burned-area products remain distinct so integrations can interpret each signal correctly.

Active-fire detections

  • VIIRS — Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20 and NOAA-21 at approximately 375 m.
  • MODIS — Terra and Aqua at approximately 1 km.
  • Sentinel-3 SLSTR — Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B global FRP detections at nominal 1 km resolution.
  • GOES-18/19 — frequent geostationary coverage of the Americas.
  • Meteosat MSG and MTG — geostationary coverage of Europe, Africa and nearby regions.
  • Landsat 8/9 — high-resolution thermal observations where available.

Burned-area products

  • GWIS near-real-time — global rolling week, month and fire-season perimeters derived from MODIS/VIIRS.
  • EFFIS Rapid Damage Assessment — expert-verified MODIS/Sentinel-2 perimeters for Europe and nearby regions.

Public API area totals are provider-reported full perimeters intersecting the requested radius, not area clipped to the circle. They are context—not additional active-fire detections.
